The Opportunity
UNICEF is seeking an experienced and professional Senior Driver to provide secure, reliable, and high-level transportation services to the Head of Office in Abuja.
This position goes beyond routine driving duties and requires strong knowledge of safety procedures, protocol requirements, administrative support, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will also support junior drivers and contribute to logistical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Safe and Professional Driving
- Provide secure and reliable transportation services.
- Ensure adherence to traffic regulations and UNICEF safety policies.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Coordination and Protocol Support
- Support official meetings, airport pickups, and protocol-related activities.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams, government agencies, and external stakeholders.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks.
- Ensure vehicles remain roadworthy and properly equipped.
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies.
Digital Systems and Reporting
- Utilize vehicle tracking systems and digital tools.
- Maintain accurate travel records and vehicle logs.
Administrative and Logistical Support
- Provide basic administrative assistance when required.
- Support office logistics and transportation planning.
Team Support and Development
- Guide and mentor junior drivers.
- Participate in continuous learning and professional development activities.
Requirements
Education
- Secondary school education.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Good knowledge of local driving laws and regulations.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience.
- Experience working with international organizations, embassies, or the UN system is required.
- Proven safe driving record.
Required Skills

Language Requirement
- Fluency in English is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
- Experience with VIP protocol and airport protocol services.
- First-aid certification.
- Emergency response experience.
- Experience working in humanitarian or development settings.
