Job Overview

FairMoney Microfinance Bank is recruiting an experienced Android Engineer to join its core engineering team in Lagos.

The successful candidate will work within the Technology Division, collaborating with engineers based in Lagos and other locations around the world to develop, maintain and improve the company’s Android application.

The role involves developing and testing new application features, maintaining high code quality, participating in the software development lifecycle, and contributing to knowledge sharing and the mentorship of junior developers.

Candidates should have at least four years of professional experience in native Android development and strong knowledge of Kotlin or Java, Clean Architecture, Jetpack Compose, Coroutines and software testing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Android Application Development

1. Create and develop new features for the company’s Android application.
2. Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from development through testing and maintenance.
3. Write clean, efficient and high quality code.
4. Maintain and improve existing application features and functionality.
5. Work with other engineers to deliver reliable software solutions.

2. Software Quality and Testing

1. Maintain high code quality standards across development activities.
2. Participate in code reviews and pair programming.
3. Apply Test Driven Development (TDD) practices.
4. Develop and maintain unit tests, instrumented tests and end to end tests.
5. Apply appropriate software architecture and development practices to maintain application quality.

3. Collaboration and Technical Leadership

1. Collaborate with engineers in Lagos and remote locations.
2. Share technical knowledge and development experience with team members.
3. Mentor junior developers and support their technical growth.
4. Contribute to engineering discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements and Qualifications

Interested candidates should meet the following requirements:

1. At least 4 years of professional experience in native Android development.
2. At least 4 years of experience coding with Kotlin or Java.
3. A minimum of 2 years of experience in pair programming, Test Driven Development and code reviews.
4. At least 2 years of experience with unit testing, instrumented testing and end to end testing.
5. Ability to develop clean, efficient and high quality code.
6. Familiarity with multi module Android applications.
7. Good understanding of Clean Architecture.
8. Experience with Jetpack Compose and Coroutines or RxJava.
9. Ability to use AI assisted development tools effectively and understand their limitations.
