Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Set-Up Analyst to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of accounting structures, product accounting processes, and financial controls within a dynamic banking environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with Product, Technology, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure accurate account configuration, compliance with regulatory requirements, and seamless implementation of new banking products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage account maintenance activities, including static/master data creation, account setup, and General Ledger (GL) mapping.
  • Configure and maintain account restrictions in line with product requirements, operational controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor account structures to ensure appropriate controls and restrictions are consistently applied.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop Product Papers, Business Requirement
  • Documents (BRDs), User Stories, and accounting process documentation.
  • Define and document accounting entries, financial workflows, and operational procedures for new and existing products.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT),
  • Controlled Live Testing (CLT), and implementation reviews to validate accounting treatments and prevent post-deployment issues.
  • Liaise with Product, Technology, Operations, and Finance teams to resolve accounting exceptions and system-related issues promptly.
  • Support change management processes and ensure compliance with Chart of Accounts standards, GL Control Policies, accounting regulations, tax requirements, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Recommend and implement accounting controls that enhance accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within financial accounting and product accounting operations.
  • Ensure all accounting configurations align with applicable banking regulations, accounting standards, and organizational policies.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent certification is required.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in banking operations, financial services, consulting, or a related environment.
  • Strong understanding of banking products and services.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with GL mapping, chart of accounts management, product accounting, and financial controls.
  • Familiarity with banking regulations, tax requirements, and change management processes.
